 Boone, I've seen Paul's comments on an earlier trac ticket which states
 this will be handled in V1.6, apparently it is caused by the core pages
 being set by the buddpress templating system which and the 'single column'
 view only works on new WP pages.  Please remove this ticket and I will fix
 for my site using CSS.

 P.s. the way I was adjusting to single-column was by visiting the page in
 site-admin and the 'Page Attributes' panel, then choosing 'one column, no
 sidebar' from the Templates drop down.
