 Hi Chris, thanks for the report. We've fixed this one (see ticket #3204)
 in the upcoming 1.3 release, also in a 1.2.9 release which we are going to
 get out same-day as WordPress 3.2.

 If you can't wait for WordPress 3.2, download a copy of BuddyPress 1.2
 branch: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/branches/1.2 or from
 SVN: http://svn.buddypress.org/branches/1.2/
