Comment:

 I would prefer to keep as many BP functions linked to our own internal
 hooks as possible, as it consolidates the process of bugfixing and
 updating.

 Is there anything wrong with simply loading textdomains in a function
 outside of the extension class, which can then be hooked to init?

 Marking wontfix, but please jump back in and reopen if there are
 compelling reasons that I am missing.
