 I wanted to add a group slug to the "groups_forbidden_names" filter (
 located in groups_setup_globals() ).
 However I wasn't able to add the group slug to the filter.

 Had to resort to adding the slug to the $bp global, which works but is
 this just a case of me staring in front of the LCD too long?
