Comment:

 Right now, all core components have single-word names (in English at
 least). IMO it would look funny to have a long string like "Private
 Messages" in all the nav areas.

 If you'd like to make changes to be more specific for your community,
 please use a language pack or a child theme. Since there hasn't been a lot
 of complaints about this particular wording, I don't think it's worth
 changing it in the core software.
