Comment:

 Created a basic patch to solve this: creates a cookie bp-activity-offset
 which is used to control any offsets required. Accordingly modified the
 bp_activity_template, has_activity, get, bp_activity_get to accept offset
 as a variable. This might break other stuff, definitely needs testing.
