 My setup is as follows:
 WPMU 2.9.1, with BP 1.2 revision 2317.

 All users on the main blog are set to Contributor by default.

 Not sure if this is related, but I'm finding that when I (as site admin)
 create a new blog, I get my roles displayed in brackets, and can switch
 between blog dashboards without an issue - however if I am a user, and
 create a blog, then I'm finding that the roles in brackets are lost.

 Furthermore, if (as a user) I click on the main blog link, it always
 forwards me to my user-create blog - I cannot enter the main site blog as
 Contributer.
