Comment:

 There is a plugin available where you can "Invite Anyone" instead of only
 your friends. Thats a good plugin solution, but i think at least a simple
 field where members could "invite friends" by entering the "e-mail
 address" should be in the core, because it would definitely improve
 usabilty and encourage more people to aggregate in groups.
