Comment:

 You can create as many profile fields as you wish already. If you want a
 "Location" profile field, just create it and populate it with you lists of
 countries/states/provinces. In regards to "chain selection," this is an
 area for a plugin.

 If this was in fact in core (I haven't seen it, but that doesn't mean it's
 not so), then it was removed for a reason, and it's likely to stay that
 way. As it stands, you can do all this in a plugin or the functions.php
 file of your theme.
