Comment:

 The code to prevent an admin from leaving the group is in core, but I
 haven't yet figured out why it's not being called. I just started digging,
 so we'll see what happens.

 I've also noticed that on my test site, that the "Leave Group" link is
 shown on all the groups I create/administer, except for the very first
 group I create/administer.
