 it seems the mystery-man.jpg image is being saved in the core-code:

 http://domain.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/images/mystery-
 man.jpg

 I have tried to overwrite this .jpg-image within my custom-child-theme,
 but it does not work.
