 All this is working fine for me on BP 1.0.3.  As you've not provided any
 details about your version of BuddyPress or what themes you are using, I
 am going to presume this may not necessarily be a core bug.  Please make a
 post on the Forums with full details and we can investigate this.  Thank
 you.

 We can leave this ticket open for a couple of days or until we confirm the
 bug via discussion on the forum.
