 The install_blog_defaults() function in wp-includes/wpmu-functions.php is
 supposed to create the default WordPress.com/Wordpress.org blogroll
 entries when a new blog is created.

 This WordPress changeset http://core.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/10895
 dropped the link_category field from the wp_x_links table. The field is
 dropped for all new blogs that are created. Existing blogs will still have
 the link_category field on the wp_x_links table.
