 I think I've managed to define a series of steps with which I can
 reproduce an infinite redirects bug for a user on login. Would appreciate
 someone else duplicating this for me, please.

 1. Install WPMu files
 2. Browse to and install WPMu with sub-domains
 3. Login as admin
 4. Select "Add new" from the "Users" menu (you'll be sent to a settings
 page)
 5. Set the following, then select "Update Options"
  a. Allow new registrations: Only user account can be created
  b. Add new users: Yes
 6. Select "Add new" from the "Users" menu (this time you'll be sent to an
 add new user page)
 7. Add a new user with the following properties:
  a. Some username (doesn't seem to matter what)
  b. '''the same email as the current admin'''
  c. Select their new role as admin
 8. You should get an error back saying there's already a user with that
 email address
 9. Change the email address to something else (you will need access to
 this email address)
 10. Wait for the confirmation email, and click the confirm link (I did
 this in another browser to preserve my session as admin)
 11. Wait for the email with the password, and try to log in...

 At this point I get infinite redirects.

 After much head scratching I noticed that there was no user listed in the
 user table, which struck me as peculiar. I think that somehow I'd sort of
 half-added a user, enough for emails but not enough to log in.

 Sorry, I haven't been able to produce a patch for this one.
