 I just reviewed @johnwatkins0 patch. It look great to me.

 The place that I feel was missed was the [https://github.com/WordPress
 /wordpress-develop/blob/7e4debe75c07cc7f97bb40bad451cd9469a409da/src/wp-
 admin/includes/image.php#L183-L212 _wp_image_meta_replace_original]
 function.

 Otherwise, this patch is good to me.

 As I noted in #51650

 filesize to get the file size of a attachment.

 So I would love to see this land in core.
