 Aside: It is actually possible to add such timing to hooks without a
 before and after hook, it's just nasty.

 runcommand's [https://runcommand.io/wp/profile/ wp profile] package does
 this, and [https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/ Query Monitor]
 will support it in a future version.
