 We don't even need to drop back compatibility for fixes, necessarily. It's
 more a matter of how this gets implemented and the policies surrounding
 it. If there is a larger issue about back compatibility becoming
 difficult, that's a separate can of worms, and, IMO, is not directly
 related to this. That process can either be revised or improved, and will
 be an issue if kept as-is, regardless or this decision. Likewise, it might
 be able to be made easier to backport to 3.7 and that could be the case
 regardless of a change in PHP version. I do not think the two issues
 should be conflated based on comments here.
