 The docs at https://developer.wordpress.org/rest-api/extending-the-rest-
 api/modifying-responses/ didn't mention the missing sub type handling but
 instead suggested using `register_meta( 'my-cpt' …)`. I adjusted that now,
 but of course needs to be reverted once this feature lands.
