Comment:

 [attachment:38569.diff] is a first take on a possible implementation.

 I think providing the "Hide" text alongside the icon makes sense
 generally, but in this case we might be good simply showing the icon
 inline with the field as this is a common design pattern with password
 fields. Probably needs some CSS adjustments, but it's the direction I
 would go for.
