 Ideally, it should be the same API as adding admin menu items, so I guess
 `add_menu_page()`, `add_options_page()` and similar. In that way it would
 ensure that the two menus are identical. I guess however the problem there
 is that these are called only in the admin area? So not on the front-end?
 That's why I suggested to start first with the pure "default" menu as the
 first iteration to land in Core, which would be already a huge step
 forward, and then find a way later to make the two identical even for
 plugins. :)
