 Thanks. OK, that confirms it. It registers a sidebar with:

 {{{
 'before_widget' => '<section id="%1$s" class="widget %2$s widget-%2$s">',
 }}}

 Only the first instance of `%2$s` is getting replaced, so implementing the
 regex global replacement will do the trick.
