 I'm glad to see this happening. Awesome. If there was a plugin that
 implemented these recommendations, I'd use it right now. This seems a
 perfect candidate for a feature plugin. The plugin could do direct menu
 global hackery. There's no need to be proper. An exercisable proof of
 concept that can be rapidly iterated will help this land faster, I think.
 I also think we should make a habit of using feature plugins to work out
 big ux changes like this. Feature plugins are easier to test, and much,
 much easier to punt. They are also easier to put on wordpress.com for
 exposure to its huge scale, no small thing.
