 Replying to [ticket:31563 programmin]:

 It's my understanding that there's a post in the works to explain what's
 changed in 4.2. That will be posted on the
 [https://make.wordpress.org/core/ core development blog].

 As @iseulde alluded, the views API is still marked as experimental and
 therefore not subject to backward-compatibility standards like the rest of
 WordPress' APIs.
