 This patch was tested here: http://red-hound.com/trunk29764/trunk/src/
 and has real success!  Woot! Woot! afercia is right, more work is
 required, because it works but requires a specific sequence (TBD)...but
 but it WORKS!  Major thanks to afercia, Joe, Gary, avryl, nacin.

 The button concept seems to be the kernel of the solution.
