 Not sure what was wrong with my local that made .6.diff not work, but I've
 moved the initial disabling of the spinner back to the init method to
 reduce the number of times it gets called superfluously. gcorne believes
 (and I agree) that making CSS adjustments to avoid having to manually hide
 it in this way may be a good enhancement.
