 As these patches span many files, they will probably take a lot of
 maintenance. So if this portion of the patch is going to be committed, it
 should be sooner rather than later (this patch affects only `array(
 &$this, 'method' )` usage). What is the next step to getting this
 committed? What other files should this cover (see [comment:2 my comment
 above])?
