 No, vs making it a protected method.

 }}}

 You can only pass plain strings to __().

 But even doing:

 {{{
 sprintf( __( 'No %s' ), $taxonomy_object->label )
 }}}

 won't be good enough. We'll probably have to introduce
 `$taxonomy_object->labels->no_terms`.

 PS: How about handling the built-in 'categories' and 'tags' columns using
 this new API?
