 yup, that fixed it! adding those brackets & '+' sign where you did in wp-
 includes/formatting.php keeps the spaces from being deleted in the
 trackback line on '''Save Draft''', '''Publish''' or '''Update''' in my
 version of 3.4.1 (see my site —> http://ialsowent.com/). thank you!
