Comment:

 This isn't a bug in core. The wp-typography plugin is indiscriminately
 filtering `get_bloginfo` calls (which is what `feed_links()` uses to
 generate the link tags) and adding the invalid HTML. That said, this
 filter looks to have been removed since version 2.0.2 of the plugin (quite
 a while ago), so perhaps you just need to upgrade.
