Comment:

 I have added a concept for what I think the front page settings need to
 be.  While I like the new process, getting rid of the dropdown all
 together seems to make things more complicated than it needs to be.
 Instead, I'd have a checkbox next to the Posts page that, when checked,
 would display the new page input.
