Comment:

 And other domains? What if the same server is available under multiple
 domains (IP, internal domain, external domain)? Why do you so
 significantly the proposal for root-relative URLs?

 Though I suppose I could modify what you put above to pull the user's
 visiting host from the {{{$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']}}} variable, it would be
 just easier to amend WordPress serve root-relative URLs?
