#14806: Import fails to htaccess protected websites
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
 Reporter:  brettalton    |       Owner:
     Type: defect (bug) | Status: new
 Priority: normal | Milestone: Awaiting Review
Component:  Import        |     Version:  3.0.1
 Severity: major | Keywords: import 401 unauthorized remote file error
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
 When importing a site to a new Wordress installation, I selected 'Download
 all attached files'. When the process was running, the following errors
 popped up:

 {{{
 # Importing attachment http://domain/alex.jpg... Remote file error: Remote
 file returned error response 401 Unauthorized
 # Importing attachment http://domain/andy.jpg... Remote file error: Remote
 file returned error response 401 Unauthorized
 # Importing attachment http://domain/ben.jpg... Remote file error: Remote
 file returned error response 401 Unauthorized
 # Importing attachment http://domain/jamnik.jpg... Remote file error:
 Remote file returned error response 401 Unauthorized
 # Importing attachment http://domain/joanna.jpg... Remote file error:
 Remote file returned error response 401 Unauthorized
 # Importing attachment http://domain/kenn.jpg... Remote file error: Remote
 file returned error response 401 Unauthorized
 }}}

 This is because my website was password protected by htaccess.

 Would it be possible to use cURL to pre-enter a username and password (if
 someone has this protection), or, since I'm sure this error doesn't occur
 a lot, ask the user for the username and password as soon as 401
 Unauthorized is returned?

 Yes it was my fault for forgetting that it was htaccess protected, but now
 I have to delete everything and run the import again. Just annoying is it
 not?
