Comment:

 I have the menu truncated at 16 items too, same problem of the first
 reporter.
 16 items is a very limiting number if you have some nested one you reach
 the limit very quickly.
 If it's decided to not fix this issue (as I understand that it's not
 strictly a WP issue) we shold at least document this problem in the wiki
 and maybe in the admin screen too: it took me nearly an hour to isolate
 it.
