 What an incredibly ill thought out and pointless changeset [14996] was. If
 only I'd seen that changeset at the time I would have opened a ticket to
 point out the problems it causes.

 In addition to src URLs in <img> tags, this breaks links where the URL
 contains 'Wordpress'. That has the potential to be just as widespread an
 annoyance as the <img> problem, not only for outbound links but also for
 anyone who installed WordPress in a 'Wordpress' directory.

 Recommending that [14996] is reverted rather than wasting time on a regex.
