 I was experiencing a similar problem - by editing line 477  of xmlrpc.php
 to make the $blog_id a string, I was able to get the iphone app to connect
 to my blog.

 I got the fix from here: http://iphone.forums.wordpress.org/topic/iphone-

 not sure if it's a solution or a quirk...
