 wp_create_user in wp-includes/registration.php (line:306) throws an
 exception : '''This email address is already registered.''' If no email
 address is provided, but the function's documentation at
 [http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_create_user] says that
 the email address is optional.

 This used to work in 2.9.2, but is broken in 3.0 which is breaking one of
 my sites.
