Comment:

 I was all ready to ignore this issue as "dontcare" until I realized that
 it could break URLs. So now I find myself reversing my feelings on it in
 favor of removing the filter.

 However, since all indications are that it *won't* be removed, I can at
 least offer a patch that might be more robust than the ones I've seen
 here.

 I've got a callback function in my Text Filter Suite plugin that can fix
 this s. I'll try to whip up a quick patch based on it
