 I'm seeing an unintended benefit from production testing.  Google seems to
 have increased the ranking of attachments (gallery pages) and is
 displaying the shortlinks in search results.

 In other words, blog/yyyy/mm/post-name-slug/omg-long-attachment-filename-
 slug/ rarely ever ranked but is now showing up in search results as
 blog/?p=nnnn
