 I agree, it's a duplicate. My patch implements the same two new options
 for wp_list_authors but also adds the "number" option. The latest SVN
 revision of author-template.php added multi-blog logic to this template
 tag and my patch supports this. My patch also implements the efficiency
 improvement suggested in #5407 which is a big deal for blogs with many
 authors.
