 No, both of those make it *easier*, not harder.

 It's easier to use a existing tools (such as a straightforward search and
 replace tool or a database access tool) than have to wrie platform-
 specific PHP code to produce what you're trying to make.

 We're not talking about the functionality, because shortcodes are not
 required to create that functionality.

 I'm all for the functionality. I'm against your suggested implementation.
