 Those are two different arguments: not coddling vs. desired behavior.
 Things breaking is never *desired* behavior, to my mind.

 Not arguing that the "don't coddle" argument is wrong, per se, just that
 breaking things in the name of "tough love" is not the same as "we *want*
 it to break".
