 If the talltree patch worked, then yes, this would be fixed. The HTTP API
 uses other transports besides fsockopen, so most likely one of those
 should work for you also. If it doesn't work, then open a new ticket. The
 issue will have been with the HTTP API and not with wp-cron in that case.

 This should be fixed by the HTTP API in 2.7.
