 While waiting for 2.9 deleting the IPTC data (using a command line tool, a
 photoshop action or something similar) is one option.

 Turning off the problematic IPTC support Wordpress is offering, is
 another. Deleting the small part in wp_generate_attachment_metadata
 (image.php) might do the trick.
