 While it ''may'' remove some flexibility, I think it's worth it as it
 greatly simplifies the whole capabilities system and more in the spirit of
 the original feature's idea IMO.

 You'd still be able to do it, you'd just have to have a role with the
 permissions you want the user to have and then assign that user to that
 role. Possibly a role per user depending on how customized your roles are
 (i.e. if no two permissions are alike).
