#3338: Blog Search: Ignore Soft Hyphens
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
Reporter: transalpin | Owner: anonymous
Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: high | Milestone: 2.1
Component: Optimization | Version: 2.0.5
Severity: normal | Keywords: hyphenate, hyphenation, discretionary hyphen, search
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
The W3C and the Unicode Consortium say it: For operations such as
searching and sorting, the soft hyphen should always be ignored.
To clarify, a search for “wordpress” should return both “`WordPress`” and
“`WordPress`”.
Personally, I extensively use the Soft Hyphen character (U+00AD, ``)
for posts written in German, unfortunately making the text unsearchable.
It just looks better, even for non-justified alignment.
