You can ssh into your 1 and 1 account. Email me and I will give you
instructions. It's pretty easy.

As said earlier in this thread, WP doesn't even ask me for my FTP
credentials when clicking the upgrade button - goes straight to
"Downloading...". And the latest.zip does get to my /wp-content
folder, so I'm guessing that part's safe.

But since you ask, the root is in /home/<mydirectory>/xavier/wp-trunk/
. Regular FTP.
Don't think I can SSH into my account (1&1 account, sob sob).
