I agree.  Had this conversation came up a while back, when the changes were
being planned, I might have thought that we should change it to 3.0.  Now
it's too close to the release.  Just wanted to make sure that people
realized that jumping from 2.6 to 3.0 is a lot different than jumping from
2.6 to 2.8 and would not necessarily be artificial version inflation.
