Pat, the QuickPress module is meant to be superfast way to create  
content that doesn't require the full features of the write screen.  
The lack of WYSIWYG buttons is definitely on purpose. You can add  
links by typing in the HTML as if you're in the HTML editor. We went  
with tags as the default, because it was the choice most requested by  
users. In v2.8, we intend for the module to be customizable, so users  
can choose for themselves which 3-4 fields to display. In any case,  
for full-featured post creation, the Add New Post screen is still the  
place to be.
