Well I am not too sure about why it is handling it right and why wrong
sometimes... so I am not too sure if this is done allready.

While Code Auto Escape uses a (very) different approach it should do nearly
the same preserving I think. It seems performance is nearly the same (while
I didn't run very complicated tests for this one) and results are too.

But since you missed the original topic I think the thing is: You can not
insert <code></code> via WYSIWYG. You could add <pre> but that isn't the
same...

Anyway I hope the plugin will help some of those posting code while it seems
to be the only possibility today to write about installed shortcodes inside
your Blog - which makes it unique anyway ;-)

-- which is the strangest thing (it wasn't yesterday!).

yap I am curious about why that was that way... maybe I'll find an answer
when rechecking the local version at work tomorrow (or today since its 3am
again)

(And I'd like to experiment a bit with code highlighting too... but it's not
> an immediate concern.)

Codehighlighting, as a matter of fact, was only added since I thought this
could be handled by the same plugin - I didn't write the highlighter nor
will I try writing one (time consuming like hell and will never be
perfect...)... please let me know if there are problems with it - but don't
expect me to fix such errors very fast, since it isn't my code...

For Line numbering to be something else then senseless will need the
possibility to add a starting number... will have to add this one someday -
but not today it's 3am again and sinceI'll have to go to work in about 5 hrs
I should hurry to bed now ;-)
