In theory...it should work.  I had the Show Avatars setting on, but there
was nothing on the posts.  Only one commenter was able to get her avatar
working.  None of the other WP users can get their avatars to show on my
site.  Then I got the Easy Gravatars
plugin<http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/easygravatars/>and that
showed the gravatars.  Then all of a sudden there were two
gravatars.  One next to the author and one next to the text.

Well, now I've installed SezWho <http://www.sezwho.com/index.php> and I'm
back to being gravatarless, though that's more SezWho's problem than a WP
issue.
